Canon has officially released the latest addition to its EOS 5D series, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. It took over four years for the popular Canon EOS 5D Mark III to finally have a successor. The EOS 5D Mark IV gained substantial under the hood upgrades while retaining most of its predecessor’s awesome features. It offers amazing image quality refinements, performance and versatility that every wedding and portrait photographers as well as nature and landscape shooters will surely appreciate.
The latest DSLR may look very similar to its predecessor when it comes to the outside design and built but it offers huge enhancements from the inside. It now features a higher-resolution sensor with the new 30.4MP full-frame and high speed CMOS sensor along with the Digic 6+ processor. It can take advantage of its full resolution effectively at normal ISOs of up to 32000. Its ISO ranges from 100-32000 which is expandable to 50-102400.
The EOS 5D Mark IV is now capable shooting in 4K stills and Digital Cinema (DCI) standard 4K (Motion JPEG) videos with a resolution of 4096 x 2160 at up to 30 or 24 frames per second. It also features multiple video options including Full HD for up to 60fps and HD for up to 120fps.
Adding up to its already powerful design is the intelligent Dual Pixel CMOS AF. The new CMOS sensor features two photodiodes per pixel in which each pixel is capable of phase-difference detection autofocus, delivering fast and accurate AF. The AF system was inherited from the flagship 1D X Mark II featuring 61-point High Density Reticular AF II system in which 41 are cross-type. It also features a built-in WiFi and NFC connectivity for easy sharing on compatible smart devices and GPS for geotagging. Below are the key specifications of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.
