Apple releases iMessage sticker packs for iOS 10

iMessage will receive a set of new features with iOS 10, as what have transpired during Apple’s WWDC 2016. One of these new features is the capability of sending animated emoji on iMessage. In the advent of the iOS 10 beta 1 release, Apple launches four downloadable iMessage sticker packs for iOS 10 namely Smileys, Hearts, Hands and Classic Mac. The Classic Mac sticker pack which is by default already included in the stock installation of iOS 10 will also be included for download if ever you have uninstalled it and wanted to reinstall.

All four sticker packs can be downloaded for free if your device is running the beta release of iOS 10. Even though you can see them in the App Store while you are on iOS 9, the stickers will require you to be on iOS 10 in order to download and install. Each of the sticker packs contains a set of animated emoji which behave similarly to those in Facebook Messenger when sent to the recipient. You can tap on a sticker to add it on a conversation, be able to peel parts of a sticker, hold and drag it over another sticker or over any part of a conversation.

Many of the stickers that are included in the packs essentially looks like the emoji present in the Apple Watch. However, when the iOS 10 is finally released, developers will also be able to create sticker packs with the availability of Messages app’s API. Interestingly, the packs will not show up as an icon on your homes screen once installed. Just like an add-on, you will be able to see the stickers to appear in the “Apps” section of iMessage from where you can remove or uninstall them.
